I love, love, love our Advisory Group this year. In just two days we have built some great community and I am excited about the possibilities for our group amid some new scheduling changes and opportunities.
First and foremost, congratulations and welcome back to our 2017 Seniors - Brendan, Christina, and Gwyneth! Brendan is already demonstrating himself as a leader and although Christina and Gwyneth are attending classes at the King Career Center during Advisory period, they are committed to staying connected during the year.
Welcome to our new 6th Graders - Jaikob, Braydon, and Trace. This crew has brought some new and positive energy into our mix.
And of course welcome back to all our "middle children"! :) It is so much fun seeing how everyone has grown and changed in just three short months.
As an Advisory, we have elected to continue with our "Pick Me-Up Pantry" as a group community service. We have two cupboards dedicated to this cause in our classroom. This is a place for any student in the building to come grab an extra snack during their day. I have made an initial Costco run, but need support from the group to keep our shelves stocked with non-perishable snack items. I would encourage you to help your child find a way to earn their contributions as this is designed to be their community involvement. As always, any feedback is appreciated!
We are also trying a new service this year through Remind. It is a free and easy to use text reminder service that you can opt out of at any time. We will use this for quick reminders and alerts throughout the year. Students and families may safely join by texting @heidiad to 81010.
I have created the email distribution list for this email using the addresses provided by Zangle. If your email is incorrect, you would prefer using a different address, or would like removed from this distribution list please let me know.
You should also be receiving the Wolf Weekly via email on Thursdays. If you are not, please contact Angela Borjon in the front office; Borjon_Angela@asdk12.org or (907) 742-8714.
I would also encourage you to bookmark the Polaris website for the most current and updated information: www.polarisk-12.org.
Finally, tonight is Open House at 6:00PM. After staff introductions and a brief message from our principal, secondary teachers will be in their classrooms for an informal meet and greet.
After a magnificent summer, it feels good be back in the game and finding our groove. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. If you have any information that you would like to share about your child that would help me help them find continued success here at Polaris, please do so or I am happy to schedule a time to meet or make a phone call.
