We are having our traditional Thanksgiving Potluck Lunch with Allie's Advisory on Thursday, November 17th. Our Advisory is responsible for bringing drinks and sides. We have a running list in our classroom and you can either email me with what you are bringing or students can sign up in class.
Candy Cane Hunt
Also in conjunction with Allie's Advisory, we are hosting the Annual Candy Cane Hunt on Thursday, December 15th as a 1st semester community engagement piece. As you see candy canes begin to appear on store shelves, please grab a couple boxes to contribute. From past year's experience, please do not purchase the small individually wrapped candy canes. The standard size works best. And don't worry about the gourmet variety - save those for fireside in your own home. For this event it is quantity over quality. We would also love to have a few nutcrackers to give away as a prize for finding the candy canes with with special ribbons. If you are willing to contribute one in lieu of candy canes, or are even cleaning out your holiday decorations and have some to spare, we will gladly accept them!
Advisory Yeti Shirts
Please see the attached group design for our NEW Advisory shirts. We are hoping to have these by Polaris Jingle Festivus in December. The yeti will be printed on the sleeve - not on the front of the shirt as it appears in the proof. The shirts will be personalized with each student's name and graduation year. The cost is $35.00/each with a predicted order of 18 shirts. In order to proceed, I need a firm yes or no from each Advisee. This will allow me to confirm our order and open up online ordering. Please let me know as your earliest convenience if you will be ordering a shirt.
Thanks for the quick response from so many of you signing up for your Fall Semester Student-Led Conference. If you have not done so yet, you can see the remaining open times and sign-up online at:
I know it sounds like a lot - it is! Please do not hesitate to let me know if something is a burden for your family right now and we will work together. I did try to include everything I could anticipate coming before the winter break. I do know we are having a cookie and milk day with Mike's Family Group in December, but that should just be a few batches of cookies from our whole Advisory - there is no judgement for the store bought variety! :)
And finally, not that you probably need a reminder as I am sure students are well aware, tomorrow is an inservice day and there is no school for students.
Thank you for all you do to make our school feel like a true community!
